Youth Journal, Monday, Feb 15

Today was by far the best day of my 15 year old life.  We had a late morning and a wonderful breakfast with pancakes and eggs, and also a different yet good toasting Cambodia french toast.  Everyone then swarmed for the computers, facebooking to friends and family.  Soon after, we boarded the bus and had a mini trivia about one another.  Dona returned with pick-axes and soccer balls.

As we were on the way Josh happened to forget the i-pod rule, and got it taken away.  However, he began speaking and trying different excuses to get it back.  His accent was beyond hilarious, and it began a newer jokes based on his wonderful accent.

We were soon on our way to the work site.  As we arrived we were welcomed by 55 young children with the greatest smiles.  We were forced to refain from running and playing until we planned our our day.  Joseph Ewoodzie and Joseph Chan explained what we would be ding, and we broke into our family group for 3 jobs: sorting the school supplies, digging up the soil, and playing with the youth.

My first job was digging and I loved it.  We had a set area that we had to dig 3cm down.  We did a lot, pulling up boulders and moving dirt over to cover the pipes.
My highlight of the day was my chance to play with the kids, but before we got started we had lunch with the kids.  We were with five of the kids per on YAM.  It was touching to see how two out of my five boys eat very little, maybe four bites, so that they could take the rest home to their brothers and sisters.  Finally we got to go out and play.  We play taps (keeping the pall up at all costs), soccer, and a traditional mime game they taught us.  They loved rock paper scissors, high fives, and super-sounds.  I simply loved it.  We ran through a couple of cycles, going from work to play and back.  I was drenched in sweat.

We cleaned up, and got back on the bus.  We all rushed to clean up, and caught the most beautiful sunset I,ve ever witnessed (even if I was terrified of falling into the river).  We all took many many pictures, but Lily went on a true sunset rampage.  After the sun had set we walked to the hotel and then straight to the restaurant.  Dinner was nice, and most of us had noodles over rice.  After dinner we were exhausted and needed a good wakeup.  Just in time Donna returned with an amazing dragon cake.  We gobbled it up, had amazing devotion about our day with the kids, and all but too happpy to go to bed.  I cannot imagine what tomorrow has in store.
