Every church is required to participate in the Conference’s group Workers Compensation policy. To ensure that premiums are accurate, each church should report its payroll by classification code when asked to do so. No church should have its own Workers Compensation coverage since that would represent duplicate coverage.
Section 258.4 of the Discipline requires that church treasurers be “adequately bonded”. There is no specific level that is required but bonding should generally cover the amount of funds that are typically handled by your Treasurer and others that may handle funds such as your Financial Secretary. Many insurance programs already offer this coverage in their package policy and if not, bonding can be added as an additional form of coverage.
